you are certainly entitled to that opinion, but I am in total disagreement with your assessment . If you’ve ever done business at Amazon you will know that they run on algorithms . But there are also review processes at amazon on what products to sell. There is a product manager for every product category at Amazon and it is their job to review this stuff. There is a reason why you cannot buy lethal weapons on Amazon. In this case, somebody did not do their job.

Also I am not sure why you think India ‘desperately’ needs international credibility? This has nothing to do with international credibility. Multinationals that do business across the world have policies in place to not disrespect cultural , national sentiments. I am sure Amazon has one too, but it was not followed — intentionally or otherwise.
